MAXIMUM FAST IDLE
FAST IDLE
RANGE
TAKING CARE OF
UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS
If the engine is not properly
warmed up before raising the
engine speed, the buzzer and
overheat indicator may activate
and the engine speed will be
automatically reduced.
The cooling system may f reeze in
areas where the temperature
reaches 32°F (0°C) or below.
Cruising at high speed without
warming the engine up may cause
engine damage.
Before getting underway, allow
the engine to warm-up sufficiently
to ensure good performance.
Above 41°F (5°C), warm-up the
engine for at least 3 minutes.
Below 41°F (5°C), warm-up the
engine for at least 5 minutes at
2,000 rpm. Raise the fast idle lever
to achieve approximately 2,000
rpm.
If the fast idle lever was used to
warm-up the engine, gradually
lower the lever as the engine
warms up.
When the fast idle lever is fully
lowered, the control lever can be
moved away from the N (neutral)
position.
During the warm-up period, check
the oil pressure indicator (p. ),
overheat indicator (p. ), and
cooling system indicator (p. ).
If the indicators show any
abnormal condition, immediately
stop the engine and determine the
cause of the problem. Refer to
on
p. .
