SERVICING YOUR GENERATOR
FOAM AIR FILTER CLEANING
A dirty foam air filter will restrict air flow to the carburetor, reducing
engine performance. If you operate the generator in very dusty areas,
clean the foam air filter more frequently than specified in the
Maintenance Schedule.
1.Wash the foam air filter in a solution of household detergent and
warm w
ater, then rinse thoroughly, or wash in non-flammable or high
flash point solvent. Allow the foam air filter to dry thoroughly.
2.Soak the foam air filter in clean engine oil and squeeze out the excess
oil.
The engine will smok
e during initial startup if too much oil is left
in the foam air filter.
3.Wipe dirt from the air cleaner housing and cover using a moist rag. Be
careful t
o prevent dirt from entering the air duct that leads to the
carburetor.
