Never allow anyone not familiar with the instructions to use the generating set. 2. Do not allow children under fourteen years of age or animals to approach the generating set when it is in operation. 3. Before starting the generating set, always carry out pre-operational checks in order to avoid accidents or damage to the equipment.

This kit must be assembled according to the numerical order of the parts listed above.

Be careful not to touch the hot metallic parts of the engine when checking the oil level. CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL CAUTION : • The engine oil is an important factor which affects the engine’s performance and its operational life.

Fill up if the level is low. [2] [1] Do not fill the tank above the red mark [3] located in the filling port. After having filled the tank, check that the fuel filler cap is tightened as far as it will go. DO NOT LEAVE FUEL WITHIN REACH OF CHILDREN. CAUTION : • Never use a gas-oil mixture.

ON ECM2800 1. Open the fuel shut-off valve [1] (in the direction of the “ON” arrow), close the choke by pulling the lever [2] as shown. [2] NOTE: do not use the choke when the engine is warm or the ambient temperature is high. 2.
ANGLAIS.book Page 13 Lundi, 18. février 2008 11:11 11 GENERATING SET USE OIL ALERT SYSTEM The oil alert system is designed to prevent any risk of damage to the engine caused by insufficient oil in the oil pan. As soon as the oil level drops below the safe limit, the oil alert system automatically shuts down the engine (the engine switch remains in the “ON” position). Good condition insulators will ensure the safety of the user. Cables must be inspected regularly; they should be replaced, and not repaired, in the event of a defect. ANGLAIS.book Page 16 Lundi, 18. février 2008 11:11 11 GENERATING SET USE INFORMATION ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE GENERATOR The generator windings are not connected to the earth; the system is thus safe by construction and limits the risks of electrocution. It is strictly forbidden to connect the coils to the generator earth, except when using a 30 mA differential circuit breaker for the protection of persons.
ANGLAIS.book Page 17 Lundi, 18. février 2008 11:11 11 MAINTENANCE To ensure that the generating set performs correctly and has a long working life, it is essential that the maintenance schedule be observed. SAFETY SAFETY 5 7 CAUTION : • The engine and the muffler reach temperatures sufficient to cause burns if touched and to start a fire if adjacent to inflammable material. Allow the engine to cool for 15 minutes before carrying out any maintenance. • Only use original Honda parts.

Although this is unlikely, it is sensible to wash your hands thoroughly after handling used engine oil. Drain the oil while the engine is still warm so that the oil flows out quickly and completely. 1. For ECMT7000 only: undo the 6 screws maintaining the left side plate and remove the plate. 2.
ANGLAIS.book Page 19 Lundi, 18. février 2008 11:11 11 MAINTENANCE AIR CLEANER The engine will not run properly if the air cleaner is dirty: it is very important that the air cleaner is serviced regularly. Never use petrol or inflammable solvents to clean air cleaner elements: these products can cause fire and damage the air cleaner elements. 1. Detach the clips [1] and remove the air cleaner cover [2], and remove the foam element [3]. Check that it is not torn or blocked. Replace it if damaged. 2.

CAUTION : • The use of spark plugs with an incorrect heat range can cause damage to the engine. If the engine has been running, do not touch the muffler or the spark plug as you risk burning yourself. 1. Remove the cap and unscrew the spark plug using a spark plug spanner. 2.

Let it cool before proceeding with this operation. CAUTION : • Poor compliance with the recommended frequency of maintaining the spark arrester can lead to serious damage to the engine. ECMT7000 1. Undo the 6 screws maintaining the left side plate and remove the plate (see page 18). 2. Loosen and remove the 4 mm screw [2]. 3.

Close the fuel shut-off valve (“OFF” position) and the remove the cup [1], the O-ring [2] and the fuel shut-off valve filter [3]. 2. Wash the parts in a non-inflammable solvent and dry them. During transport, always keep the generating set level and the fuel shut-off valve closed to avoid any risk of leakage of fuel. STORAGE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD 1. Ensure that the storage area is not damp or dusty. 2. Drain the fuel contained in the tank (see page 22). 3.
