Do not allow the starter grip to snap back against the engine.
Return it gently to prevent damage to the starter.

STARTER GRIP
Pull the starter grip lightly until resistance is felt, then pull
briskly.
Always pull the starter grip briskly. If not pulled briskly, sparks
may fail to jump across the spark plug electrodes, resulting in
failure to start the engine.
