OPERATION
idjusting Ground Speeds
(our Honda lawn tractor is equipped with a transmission that offers
nultiple ground speeds. The shift lever is used to select the
appropriate ground speed for the task at hand.
when you need to speed up or slow down the lawn tractor, use the
;hift lever (not the throttle) to change the ground speed.
In slopes or hills, use a slower shift lever setting to maintain a
:ontrollable, steady speed. Also, use slower ground speeds under the
ollowing conditions:
1 For sharp turns
1 Mowing in narrow areas or near trees
1 When edging or trimming near obstructions
1 Cutting tall or very thick grass
?EVERSE is used to back up the lawn tractor. Before traveling in
REVERSE, make sure the PTO is OFF, and the path is clear of
leopIe, pets and obstructions.
Gear Transmission Model
1st - 3rd gears work best for most mowing jobs. 4th and 5th gears
;hould be used only for transporting the lawn tractor (when the PTO
s OFF) and are not recommended for mowing. Cut quality will suffer
f you mow with 4th or 5th gear.
Vways use the clutch when changing forward gears. If shifting
letween any forward gear and REVERSE, use the clutch and brake
medals to bring the lawn tractor to a full and complete stop.
Operating the shift lever on a sloped
surface can cause the lawn tractor to
lose traction
The lawn tractor can tip over, and you
can be killed or seriously injured.
Do not operate the shift lever while the
lawn tractor is on a sloped surface.
