6. Check the air cleaner element.
Move the choke lever to the CLOSED position.
Press the upper tab on the top of the air cleaner cover, and remove the
cover.
Check the element to be sure it is clean and in good condition.
If the element is dirty, clean it (see page 38). Replace the element if it is
damaged.
Reinstall the element and air cleaner cover.
Never use gasoline or low flash point solvents for cleaning the air
cleaner element. A fire or explosion could result.
CAUTION:
Never run the engine without the air cleaner. Rapid engine wear will
result from contaminants, such as dust and dirt, being drawn through
the carburetor, into the engine.
