- (Auto Select Mode) lets the camera automatically recognize the
shooting scene and set the optimal settings for the scene.
1 Set the mode dial to -.
2 Press the shutter release button
halfway.
The focus frame on the LCD monitor
changes to green if the subject is in focus, the
settings are selected for the shooting scene
automatically recognized by the camera, and
one of the following icons appears.
H : The camera chooses the optimal settings for a landscape view.
= : The camera chooses the optimal settings for a portrait shot.
. : The camera chooses the optimal settings for a night view.
- : This icon appears in all other situations.
3 Press the shutter release button down fully.
The picture is taken.
Taking Pictures in Auto Select Mode (Auto Select Mode)
• You can set the recorded pixels and the quality together in Auto Select
Mode. (Page 51, “Image Quality”) The white balance, sharpness,
saturation, contrast, etc. are automatically set to the optimum values
for each scene.
• In Auto Select Mode, settings other than [Image Quality] in [A Rec.
Mode] Menus cannot be set.
• You are recommended to set the mode dial to . and secure the
camera on a tripod etc. when taking night views. If the camera
recognizes the scene as the . in the Auto Select Mode, pictures of
night views may be dark because the shutter speed is controlled in a
range to prevent camera shake.
