The Truth About
Humidification Delivery
There are a lot of humidifier products that claim to deliver moisture to
the air in your home, but how do you know which ones really work?
Comparing humidification delivery (the amount of moisture that passes through
the device and into the air) is a great place to start.
While many portable humidifiers claim to deliver a set number of gallons
of moisture per day, the truth is they will only deliver as much moisture as you
put in them, and re-filling them with water can be a hassle.
The story is similar with other whole-house humidifiers making claims
about gallons-per-day of moisture delivery. Typically, these claims are made
based on a home’s heating equipment running 100 percent of the time at 120˚ F.
Since these types of humidifiers only work when equipment is running (and no
equipment runs full-time), they rarely deliver more than 1 gallon of moisture for
every 3 gallons that they claim. Plus, for every 1 gallon of water that is evaporated,
