Getting Started The pictures in this guide are for reference only. Your phone’s display features may differ, depending on its software version. Key Functions at Your Fingertips Press and hold to power on your mobile phone. Press to lock the screen when your mobile phone is active. Touch to return to the previous screen or exit the application you are running. Touch to hide the keyboard. Touch to open the menu on an active screen. Touch to return to the home screen.
Power Saving Tips The longevity of battery power depends on the network to which you connect, and how you use your mobile phone. Try the following to conserve battery power: When your mobile phone is not in use, turn off the screen backlight. Reduce the time it takes for your screen backlight to turn off when your phone is idle. Lower the screen brightness. Turn off Bluetooth when you are not using it.
3. Touch OK. Using the Touchscreen Touchscreen Actions Touch: Tap the screen with your finger to select an item, confirm a selection, or start an application. Touch and hold: Touch an item with your finger and do not release it until the mobile phone responds. For example, to open the options menu for the active screen, touch and hold the screen until the menu appears. Flick: Move your finger either vertically or horizontally across the screen.
If you have set up a screen unlock pattern, you will be prompted to draw the pattern on the screen to unlock it.
Home Screen Touch and hold a shortcut until it expands. You can then drag it to your desired location or move it to . You can also drag an icon from another area of the screen to the shortcut position. Switching Between Home Screens The home screens are where you will find your applications and favourite widgets. Flick left or right across the screen to switch between the home screens.
Pinch two fingers together to display the home screen thumbnails. Touch a thumbnail to enter that particular home screen. Taking a Screenshot Want to capture something interesting on your phone or show off your new high score in a game? Take a screenshot and share away. Press the power and volume down buttons simultaneously to take a screenshot. Then, open the notification panel and touch to share the screenshot. Auto-rotate Screen Your phone features a tilt sensor.

Using the Notification Panel Flick down from the status bar to open the notification panel. Opening the Notification Panel 1. When a new notification icon appears on the notification bar, place your finger on the notification bar and flick down to open the notification panel. 2. Closing the Notification Panel Place your finger on the bottom of the panel, then flick up to close it.
Moving a Home Screen Item 1. Touch and hold an item on the home screen until the item expands. 2. Without lifting your finger, drag the item to the desired position on the screen. Then, release your finger. Removing a Home Screen Item 1. Touch and hold an item on the home screen until the item expands. 2. Without lifting your finger, drag the item to . When the item and turn red, the item is ready to be removed. 3. Release the item to remove it from the home screen. Service Shortcuts 1.

Starting Applications and Switching Between Them On the home screen, touch an application icon to open it. Unlocking the Screen with a Password 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Touch Security > Screen lock > Password. 3. Follow the onscreen instructions to set a screen unlock password. Repeat the password and touch OK. After a password is set, you must enter it every time you want to unlock the phone screen. Changing the Font Size 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Touch Display. 3. Calling To make a phone call, you can dial a number using the keypad or touch a number saved in your contact list, on a webpage, or in other places. When you are in a call, you can answer other incoming calls or redirect them to your voicemail. You can also set up conference calls with several participants. Making a Call To make a call, you can use the Phone application or select a number from Contact. When you are in a call, touch to use other functions.
Answering or Rejecting a Call When you receive a phone call, the incoming call screen opens. If you have previously saved the caller’s number in Contact, the caller's name and number are displayed. If the caller’s number is not saved in Contact, the caller’s number is displayed. Answering an Incoming Call Drag to to answer the call. Rejecting an Incoming Call Drag to to reject the call. Rejecting an Incoming Call with a Text Message Drag to to reject the call and send the caller a text message.
Other Operations During a Call Making a Conference Call If you receive a new call while you are already in a call, you can add the second call to the call you are in. This feature is known as conference calling. You can also set up a conference call with multiple callers. Ask your network service provider whether conference calls are supported and how many parties can participate. 1. To initiate a conference call, dial the number of the first participant.
1. While you are in the first call and the second call comes in, answer the incoming call, and then touch . 2. The second call is placed on hold and you are reconnected to the first call. Using the Call Log The call log contains a list of calls that you have dialled, received, and missed. You can use the call log to find recently called numbers or to add a number from the call log to your contact list. Adding an Entry to Contact 1.
Contact The Contact application enables you to save and manage information such as phone numbers and addresses of your contacts. After you save contact information on your mobile phone, you have easy access to the contact with whom you want to communicate. Opening the Contact Application On the home screen, touch . All of your contacts are displayed alphabetically in a list. Creating a Contact 1. On the home screen, touch 2. Touch . . 3. Choose the save location for the contact. 4.

Messaging The Messaging application allows you to exchange text messages (SMS) and multimedia messages (MMS) with anyone using an SMS- or MMS-capable phone. Creating and Sending a Text Message 1. Touch Type text message field to start entering your message. 5. When you are ready to send the message, touch and then select the desired SIM card.

Email Your mobile phone puts email at your fingertips. With your phone’s Email application, you can use your email account with Yahoo!, AOL, or other popular email services on your phone. Adding an Email Account When using the Email application for the first time, you must configure an email account. The Email setup wizard helps you to configure your account. A number of popular email systems are supported.
Creating and Sending an Email Message 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Select the email account you want to use. 3. Touch . 4. In the To field, enter the recipients’ name or email address. 5. Enter the subject of your message and then compose the message. 6. To send an attachment with the message, touch 7. When you are finished, touch > Attach file. . 8. If you are not ready to send the message, touch > Save draft or touch to save the message as a draft. Replying to an Email Message 1.
Internet connection Mobile Networks Your mobile phone will be automatically configured to use your network operator’s 2G/3G service (if available) when you turn on the phone for the first time. Note that the SIM card must be inserted. Checking the Network Connection 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Touch More… > Mobile networks. 3. Touch Network operators or Access Point Names to check the network connection.
6. Touch > Save. > Reset to default to reset the APN In the APN list, touch information. Wi-Fi When you use your phone at home, you can connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot created from your router. Some public locations, such as airports and libraries, may also have Wi-Fi networks available for use. Turning On Wi-Fi 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Under WIRELESS & NETWORKS, touch the Wi-Fi switch to turn on Wi-Fi. Connecting to a Wireless Network 1. On the home screen, touch . 2.
Sharing Your Phone’s Data Connection With USB tethering, you can share your mobile phone's data connection with a single computer via a USB cable. Or, you can turn your phone into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot and share the data connection with multiple devices simultaneously. Sharing Your Phone’s Data Connection via USB To use USB tethering in different operating systems, you may need to prepare your computer to establish a network connection via USB.
Drag the warning line up or down to adjust the mobile data usage warning value. When your data usage reaches the warning line, you will be notified. Drag the date lines left or right to check the data usage during a specific period of time. Touch Data usage cycle to set the statistical cycle for data usage. Viewing the Data Usage of an Application 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Under WIRELESS & NETWORKS, touch Data usage. 3. Flick down to view the data usage of all applications. 4.
Bluetooth Your mobile phone is Bluetooth-capable, which allows you to create a wireless connection with other Bluetooth devices in order to share files with your friends, talk hands-free with a Bluetooth headset, or transfer photos from your phone to your PC. If you are using Bluetooth, remember to stay within 10 metres (33 feet) of the other Bluetooth devices to which you want to connect. Be aware that obstacles like walls or other electronic equipment may interfere with your Bluetooth connection.
If a Bluetooth connection cannot be set up between your phone and another device, they may be incompatible. Sending Files via Bluetooth With Bluetooth, you can share pictures, videos, and music files with your family and friends. To send files via Bluetooth: 1. Touch and hold the file that you want to send. The active options menu is displayed. 2. Touch Share, then Bluetooth to select a paired device. Receiving a File using Bluetooth 1.
3. After the driver is installed, open the new drive and begin transferring media files between your phone and computer. Multimedia content on your phone can only be viewed through Windows Media Player.
Browser Your mobile phone comes with an Internet browser pre-installed. Opening the Browser On the home screen, touch . When known or open Wi-Fi networks and mobile data networks are available at the same time, your phone will preferentially select a Wi-Fi network for Internet access. Touch to open the browser options menu: Refresh: touch to refresh the current webpage. Stop: touch to stop loading the current webpage. Home: touch to return to the home window.
Setting a Home Page 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. In a browser window, touch > Settings. 3. Touch General > Set homepage. 4. From the displayed option menu, choose the web page you want to set as the home page. Managing Bookmarks You can store as many bookmarks as you want on your mobile phone. Adding a Bookmark 1. In a browser window, go to the webpage you want to save as a bookmark. 2. Touch > Save to bookmarks. 3. Edit the bookmark name and then touch OK. Opening a Bookmark 1.
Entertainment In addition to being a communication device and personal assistant, your mobile phone also provides you with a multitude of entertainment possibilities. You can take photos, create videos and audio clips, and download and listen to music. Taking Photos and Recording Videos The camera is a combined photo and video capture device that you can use to shoot and share pictures and videos. Opening Your Camera 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. To close the camera, touch . Taking a Photo 1.
2. To take high-quality photos, it may be necessary for you to change the camera settings. The preview changes as you change the settings. 3. Frame your photo within the photo capture screen. 4. Touch to take your photo. Captured photos taken are displayed momentarily. You can take another photo or review your photos. Viewing Your Photos 1. After taking a photo, a thumbnail of it is shown in the lower right corner of the capture screen. Touch the thumbnail to view it.
2. Touch > > Continuous shot to enable continuous shooting. 3. Frame the scene you want to capture. 4. Touch and hold . The camera then takes up to 40 photos in rapid succession. You can stop shooting at anytime by releasing your finger. Taking a Panoramic Photo 1. On the home screen, touch 2. Touch . to switch to panoramic mode. 3. Frame the scene you want to capture. Touch to take your photo. 4. Follow the onscreen prompts to move your phone slowly and steadily.
1. On the home screen, touch 2. Touch . to switch to HDR mode. 3. Frame the scene you want to capture. 4. Touch . The front camera does not support HDR. Using the Gallery The Gallery application automatically scans for pictures and videos on your mobile phone and microSD card. Use Gallery to sort photos and videos into folders, view and edit pictures, watch videos, and set a picture as wallpaper or as a photo for a contact. Opening the Gallery On the home screen, touch .
Drag a corner of the cropping tool to resize the image without changing its length to width ratio. 3. Touch SAVE to save the cropped picture or touch to discard the changes. Playing a Slideshow 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Touch an album. 3. Touch > Slideshow to play a slideshow of the photos in the album. 4. Touch the screen to stop the slideshow. Enjoying Music Opening the Music Library On the home screen, touch .
You can play music in the background. Touch to return to the home screen, from where you can select and use other applications while your music continues to play. To return to the music playing screen, open the notifications panel and touch the playing music. Creating a Playlist 1. In the music library, touch and hold a file. 2. Touch Add to playlist. 3. Touch New and edit the playlist name. Then touch Save to add the song. Adding Music to a Playlist 1.
2. Touch and hold the playlist you want to play. 3. Touch Play to play the playlist. Listening to the FM Radio The FM radio uses your wired headset as an antenna. To use the FM radio, connect the headset to your phone’s audio jack. Opening the FM Radio 1. On the home screen, touch Tools > . 2. The first time you open FM radio, touch > Search to automatically scan for and save available FM channels. Once the scan is complete, the first FM channel found will be played.
Google Services Google applications, services, and features may not be available in all countries or regions. When you turn on your mobile phone for the first time, or if you are not already signed in when you access a Google services such as Google, Gmail, or Play Store, you will be prompted to sign in to your Google account. Ensure that your mobile phone has an active data connection (such as Wi-Fi or 3G/GPRS) before you sign in to your Google account.
Creating and Sending an Email 1. Open Gmail, then touch . 2. In the To field, enter the message recipient's email address. If you are sending the email to several recipients, separate each email address with a comma. To carbon copy (Cc) or blind carbon copy (Bcc) the email to other recipients, touch > Add Cc/Bcc. 3. Enter the email subject and write your email. To attach a picture or video file, touch > Attach file to select the file you want to attach. 4. After writing your email, touch .
3. Touch the Location switch to turn on location. Opening Maps On the home screen, touch Google > . Searching for Places of Interest 1. On the map, touch Search box. 2. Enter the place you want to search for in the search box, then touch . Your search results will be shown on the map. Getting Directions 1. While viewing a map, touch . 2. Touch My Location and enter the starting point in the Choose starting point… box. 3.
Play Store Play Store is Google's official application that provides direct access to the Google Play store, where you can browse and download applications and games as well as online content. Opening Play Store On the home screen, touch . Searching for Applications You can browse applications by the categories in which they are sorted, such as TOP FREE and TRENDING. Or, you can touch and enter your search keywords to show a list of applications that match your keywords. Installing an Application 1.
Synchronising Information Some applications on your mobile phone allow you to synchronise the changes you make on one device to all your devices. For example, if you add, change, or delete information in one of these applications on the web, the updated information also appears on your mobile phone. This is made possible through over-the-air data synchronisation, which occurs in the background and does not interfere with your mobile phone usage.
2. Touch Corporate. 3. Follow the onscreen instructions and enter the account information. If you do not know the account settings, contact the server administrator. 4. Touch Next, then configure the settings on the Account setup screen. 5. Touch Next, then configure the synchronisation settings for the account. 6. Touch Next to finish configuring the account settings. If emails are not synchronised properly, contact the server administrator.
2. Under the ACCOUNTS section, select the account type, such as Corporate, IMAP, POP3 or Google. 3. On the account screen, touch the account that you want to modify. To control whether applications and services can transmit data when they are running in the background, select or clear the associated check box. If you clear this option, you will need to refresh applications manually to obtain updated information.
Using Other Applications Calendar Calendar is your personal assistant that helps you manage, arrange, and keep track of all important events. Opening Calendar On the home screen, touch . Creating a New Event 1. In any calendar view, touch > New event to open the event details screen. If you have more than one calendar, select the calendar where you want to save the event. 2. Enter the event details, such as the event name, time, and location.
Default reminder time: touch to select how long before an event the event reminders occur. File Manager File Manager lets you organise, edit, and delete files and folders. Opening File Manager On the home screen, touch . Creating a Folder 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Under Local, touch SD card or Internal. 3. Touch > New folder. 4. Enter the name of the new folder in the text box. 5. Touch Save. Moving or Copying a File 1. On the home screen, touch . 2.
Viewing Your Memory Status On the home screen, touch > Storage. The memory management screen will be displayed. This screen allows you to view the memory status and available memory on your mobile phone and microSD card. Renaming a File 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Under Local, touch SD card or Internal. 3. Touch and hold the file you want to rename, then touch Rename. 4. Rename the file and then touch OK. Deleting a File 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Under Local, touch SD card or Internal.
2. Touch to open the alarms. Under alarm, you can: Add an alarm: Touch , then set the alarm time, ringtone, how often it repeats, and more. When you're done, touch Done. Turn an alarm on or off: Touch the switch button to the right of an alarm to turn it on or off. Configure alarm settings: Touch > Settings, then set whether the alarm rings in silent mode, the snooze duration, and what the volume buttons do when pressed. Delete an alarm: Touch to the right of the alarm you want to delete.

Touch > > Settings, then enable Auto update.
Switching Between Basic and Advanced Panels On the Calculator screen, flick the screen to the right or left to switch between advanced panel and basic panel.
Managing Your Mobile Phone To configure your mobile phone, touch . Turning Aeroplane Mode On or Off Your phone's signal may interfere with sensitive equipment, such as that aboard an aircraft. Aiplane mode lets you safely use your phone to listen to music or play games, but disables your phone's wireless features. Use either of the following methods to turn on or off Airplane mode: Press and hold the power button, then touch Airplane mode. On the home screen, touch > More….
3. Select the Silent check box to silence all sounds except alarms, music, and videos. Changing the Message Ringtone 1. On the home screen, touch 2. In the message list, touch . > Settings > Notifications > Sound. 3. In the list of ringtones, select your desired one. 4. Touch OK. Display Settings 1. On the home screen, touch > Display. 2. On the Display screen, you can: Touch Wallpaper to set the lock screen and home screen wallpapers. Touch Brightness to adjust the screen brightness.
Touch Choose date format to select how you want the date to be displayed. System Language Settings 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Touch Language & input. 3. Touch Language, then select a language. Managing Applications Downloading Applications A rich selection of applications is available from a variety of sources. You can: Download applications from Google's Play Store. Download applications from web pages using the browser on your phone.
3. On the displayed screen, select a sharing method and follow the onscreen instructions to share the application. System applications cannot be shared. Uninstalling an Application 1. On the home screen, touch > Apps. 2. Flick to All, then select the application you want to uninstall. 3. Touch Uninstall > OK. Some pre-installed applications cannot be uninstalled. Clearing the Application Cache You can clear the application cache to free up storage space on your phone. 1.
Setting Phone Services Customising Call Settings Depending on your calling plan, you may have and be able to customise services such as call forwarding, call waiting, fixed dialling numbers, and voicemail. On the home screen, touch , then touch > Settings > Voice Call to customise such services. Turning on Data Roaming 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Touch SIM management > Roaming > Data roaming. 3. Select the SIM card check box. Using data services while roaming may incur additional charges.
6. To change the PIN, touch Change SIM PIN. Calls to recognised emergency numbers can be placed regardless of whether your phone is locked. Using a Screen Unlock Pattern To improve data security on your mobile phone, lock the screen and require a screen unlock pattern every time your phone is turned on or wakes up from sleep mode. 1. On the home screen, touch . 2. Touch Security > Screen lock > Pattern. 3.
2. Select the Back up my data check box. Restoring Factory Data Resetting your phone to its factory settings will erase all personal data stored on the phone, including information about your Google account, any other accounts that you have configured, your system and application settings, and any applications you have installed. Resetting the phone does not erase any system updates you have downloaded.
