Introduction
This guide describes how to use the new PCL 3 printer software
(version 3.1) for HP 2500C Series printers in the Windows 2000
environment. This printer software does not include the Toolbox
program, links to HP web sites, and internet registration for the printer.
Note: Information pertaining to NT 4.0 in the HP 2500C Series User’s Guide and
Network Guide applies to Windows 2000 unless stated otherwise. Please use this
guide in conjunction with both documents.
Using this Guide
This guide includes the following sections:
• Install the Printer Software—Describes how to install the version 3.1
printer software.
• Uninstall the Printer Software—Describes how to uninstall the printer
software and Microsoft mini driver.
• Use the Printer Software—Outlines the steps to change print settings
and options.
• Network Configuration—Lists the supported network printer
connections, and additional information for configuring the printer to
print on the network.
• Print with Special Features and Options—Describes the smart
software features and options to help you print professional-looking
documents.
• Maintain the Printer—Lists the steps to run the maintenance utilities
from the printer software.

Install the Printer Software
Before you install the printer software in Windows 2000, ensure that your
computer has at least 64 MB of RAM (recommended).
Installing from the Windows
® 2000 CD
1. Start Microsoft Windows and ensure that no other application is running.
2. Insert the Windows
® 2000 CD into the CD-ROM drive.
3. Select Start, Settings, followed by Printers.
