Before removing the system board, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for disassembly on page 29).
2. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 30), and then remove the following components:
a. Battery (see Battery on page 32)
b. Fan (see Fan on page 46)
When replacing the system board, be sure to remove the following components (as applicable) from
the defective system board and install them on the replacement system board:
● WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 35)
● Memory modules (see Memory module on page 39)
● Solid-state drive (see Solid-state drive on page 37) or Optane memory module (Optane memory module
on page 38)
● Optane memory module (see Optane memory module on page 38)
Remove the system board:
1. Disconnect the following cables:
(1) Hard drive board cable
(2) Fingerprint reader cable
(3) Power connector (DC-in) board cable
