6. Lift the front of the system board (1), and then remove it from the computer (2).
To install the system board, reverse the removal procedures.
NOTE: When replacing the system board, you must change the chassis serial number in the BIOS.
When replacing the system board, you must reprogram the SMBIOS information about the aected computer.
Failure to reprogram the board will result in eventual failure, such as an activation failure (when you would
have to reactivate the computer) or a system recovery failure.
Update the SMBIOS information in Computer Setup.
Wireless antennas and cables
To remove the wireless antennas and cables, use these procedures. The cables route from the WLAN module
t
o the antennas mounted on the front of the computer.
Before removing the wireless antennas and cables, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (
Preparation for disassembly on page 21).
2. Remove the access panel (Access panel on page 21).
3. Remove the front bezel (Front bezel on page 24).
4. Disconnect the antenna cables from the WLAN module (WLAN module on page 31).
5. Remove the drive cage (Drive cage on page 39).
Remove the wireless antennas:
1. From the inside of the chassis, remove the antenna cables from the clips (1).
2. From the inside-rear of the chassis, press the tab on the plastic antenna cover (2), and then rotate the
cover o the back of the chassis (3).
3. Remove the Torx screw from the antenna (4).
