3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 37), and then remove the following components:
a. Optical drive (see
Optical drive on page 38)
b. Hard drive (see
Hard drive on page 40)
c. Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 46)
NOTE: When replacing the top cover, be sure to remove the following components from the defective
top cover and install them on the replacement top cover:

Power button board on page 53)
●
TouchPad button board (see
TouchPad button board on page 54)
Remove the top cover:
1. Remove the six Phillips PM2.5×6.5 screws that secure the top cover to the computer.
