Windows Embedded Standard 7 for HP Thin Clients - Administrator Guide

EWF and FBWF management overview
There are three tools you can use to manage EWF and FBWF: a notication icon, a Control Panel app, and a
command-line tool. Some commands can be performed using any of the tools, but other commands might be
exclusive to one or two of the tools.
Notication icon
The notication icon for EWF and FBWF is located in the Windows notication area. The following commands
can be executed by right-clicking the notication icon and selecting the desired option:
Enable—Enables the specied write lter (requires a system restart)
Disable—Disables the specied write lter (requires a system restart)
Commit (EWF only)—Commits the entire overlay cache (requires a system restart)
Clear Command—Clears the previously-set boot command (such as Enable or Disable)
NOTE: You cannot disable one write lter and enable the other write lter in a single boot command using
the notication icon. To perform this action, use the HP Write Filter Conguration tool or the command line.
The following table describes the possible states of the notication icon for EWF and FBWF.
