NOTE: The processor spare park kit includes replacement thermal material.
Follow these steps to remove the processor:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (see Preparation for disassembly on page 23).
2. Remove the access panel (see Access panel on page 24).
3. Remove the drive cage (see Drive cage on page 28).
4. Remove the fan-sink (see Fan-sink on page 39).
5. Slide the processor release lever (1) to the right until it clears the locking clip.
6. Swing the processor release lever (2) up and back as far as it will go.
7. Swing the processor retention bracket (3) up and back as far as it will go.
8. Lift the processor (4) straight up, and remove it.
NOTE: When installing the processor, the gold triangle (5) on the processor must be aligned with
the triangle icon (6) embossed on the system board.
Reverse this procedure to install the processor.
