6.10 Backing up a Virtual Copy Using Symantec NetBackup
Recovery Manager allows backup of the virtual copies to media using Symantec NetBackup.
To backup a virtual copy using NetBackup, you must first configure Symantec NetBackup as
described in Chapter 5, Configuring NetBackup for Recovery Manager.
A backup can be performed on the Mailbox Database level or the timestamp level.
6.10.1 Backup at the Mailbox Level
This is a fully automatic backup that creates a virtual copy for the Mailbox Database, mounts it,
backs it up to media, unmounts it, and removes it automatically.
To backup a virtual copy at the Mailbox Database level:
1 Right-click the Mailbox Database node you wish to backup in the node tree, and then select
Backup to Media.
Result: The Backup to Media dialog box appears.
2 Select whether you wish to validate the server name, validate the virtual copy, or truncate
the log and click Next.
3 Enter the Master Server Name, the NBU policy name, NBU Full Schedule Name, and
Mount Point in the text boxes provided. The policy and schedule names should be the
names of the policy and schedule that were set up for use with Recovery Manager in
Chapter 5, Configuring NetBackup for Recovery Manager.
4 Select whether you wish to remove the virtual copy from the InServ after NBU backup and
if you wish to enable the deferring of the Exchange log after backup.
5 Click Finish.
