Operating System Software Owner manual

2. Define a target on the primary storage system (for example, System1).
For RCIP:
# creatercopytarget <target_name> IP <N:S:P>:<link_IP_addr>
<N:S:P>:<link_IP_addr>
<target_name> - Name of the target system (for example, System2)
IP - Defines link as an IP link
<N:S:P> - Location on the current system (System1) that contains the IP connections to
the target system, expressed as node:slot:port
<link_IP_addr> - Link IP address for the corresponding port on the target system (for
example, 172.16.1.12 or 172.16.2.12).
For RCFC:
# creatercopytarget <target_name> FC <node_WWN> <N:S:P:WWN> <N:S:P:WWN>
<target_name> - Name of the target system (for example, System2)
FC - Defines link as an FC link
<node_WWN> - WWN of the node on the target system
<N:S:P:WWN> - Location on the current system (System1) of the FC adaptor port,
expressed as node:slot:port, and the WWN of the corresponding node on the target
system
NOTE: On each node, you can only configure one link per target definition.
SolutionProblem
Before admitting a link to a target definition, Remote
Copy checks its throughput and latency. If link
performance is below standard, Remote Copy does not
admit the link. For more information, see:
“Checking Link Throughput and Latency” (page 36)

Setting Up the Backup System
When you set up the links on the backup storage system, you create the links in the opposite
direction.
1. Start Remote Copy on the backup storage system (for example, System2).
