System board
Before removing the system board, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for disassembly on page 20).
2. Remove the access panel (Access panel on page 23).
3. Remove the drive cage (Drive cage on page 26).
Remove the system board:
1. When replacing the system board, make sure that the following components are removed (as applicable)
from the defective system board and installed on the replacement system board:
● Memory modules (Memory on page 28)
● Expansion cards (Expansion card on page 31)
● Heat sink and fan (Heat sink and fan on page 46)
● Processor (Processor on page 47)
● WLAN module (WLAN module on page 48)
● Solid-state drive (Removing and installing an M.2 solid-state drive on page 43)
● Option card (Option card on page 51)
2. Disconnect all remaining cables connected to the system board, and note their location for
reinstallation.
3. Remove the front I/O bracket by pushing the bottom away from the chassis, and then removing the
bracket.
4. Remove the eight Torx screws (1) that secure the system board to the chassis.
