Get started

1. Set up the printer.

Follow the instructions in the setup poster provided and on the printer control panel.

2. Install the HP printer software.

Go to the URL indicated on the control panel, and then follow the instructions on the web.

The latest printer software is also available from www.hp.com/support.

An HP printer software CD is also provided. For Windows users, if the installation program does not automatically

start when you insert the CD into your computer, double-click Setup.exe.

You can use this printer to print documents and photos on your mobile device (such as a smartphone or

tablet). For more information, visit the HP Mobile Printing website (www.hp.com/go/mobileprinting).

Electronic Help: Install the electronic Help by selecting it from the recommended software during software installation.

4 Test Fax Setup The fax test does the following: •• Tests the fax hardware •• Verifies the correct type of phone cord is connected to the printer •• Checks that the phone cord is plugged into the correct port •• Checks for a dial tone •• Checks for an active phone line •• Tests the status of your phone line connection To run the fax test: 2. Touch Fax Setup. 3. Touch Fax Tools and then touch Run Fax Test.

Use Fax Send a standard fax 1. Load your document print-side down on the scanner glass or print-side up in the document feeder. 2. On the Home screen, touch Fax. 3. Enter the fax number using the keypad or by selecting a speed dial. 4. To add a pause in the fax number, touch * repeatedly, until a dash (-) appears on the display. 5. Touch Black or Color. English 6. If the recipient reports problems with the quality of the fax you sent, try changing the resolution or contrast of your fax.
