Thisviewdisplaysthelevelof802.11channelinterferenceatvariouslocationsontheplan.Theinterferenceisbasedonthe
signalstrengthofdifferentAPs,operatingonthesamechannel,atthatlocation.Thisviewhelpsyouplanforminimum
interferencetoprovidebetternetworkconnectivityandbetterthroughputforhigherendusersatisfaction.
ThereareInterferenceViewcheckboxesatthebottomoftheAPInterferenceViewscreen.
• CoChannel:Selecttoshowinterferenceduetochannelswiththesamefrequency
• AdjacentChannel:Selecttoshowinterferenceduetoadjacentchannels
• Selectboththecheckboxestoview
thetotalchannelinterferenceduetobothCo‐ChannelandAdjacentChannel
channels.
Thecolorpalettedisplayssixlevelsofinterference:Negligible,Very Low,Low,Moderate,High,andVe r yHigh.
TheNetworkUtilizationdrop‐downlistatthebottomrightcornerofthescreenallowsyoutochoose
Low,Medium,orHigh
levelofnetworkutilizationwithwhichchannelinterferenceistobecomputed.NetworkUtilizationisameasureofthe
amountof802.11activitythatisthetrafficgeneratedduetocommunicationbetween802.11devicesinthenetwork.Italso
dependsuponthechannelofthe
communicatingdevices.Communicationonachanneladdsloadtoitselfandtoadjacent
channels(incaseof802.11band802.11g)duetooverlapinfrequencyspectrumofadjacentchannels.
Click<SelectChannels>atthebottomrightcornertoviewthepanelofchannelsoperatingonvariousprotocols.Youcan
select
thechannelsinthispanel.Allthechannelsthatarenotselected,donotcontributetotheinterference.Forexample,if
youdonotselectchannel6andthereisadeviceonthelayoutoperatingonchannel6,Plannerdoesnotconsiderthisdevice
forcalculatinginterference.
Youcan
alsoviewthechannelinterferenceforcertainchannelsbygoingtoToolsÆSettingsÆPreferencesÆAPViews.
