Introducing the File System
This chapter introduces files, directories, file systems, HP-UX reference manuals,
and some basic file system commands.
A file is a logical grouping of text and data, such as a memo or a program. A di-
rectory is a collection of files. How directories and files are stored and organized
defines a file system.
