Procedure 4-3. Running the Continuous Self Test Diagnostics
1. Log out and stop any user processes.
2. Shut down to the MD prompt by typing the following at the “login:” prompt:
login: shut
3. At the MD prompt “ > “, type the following:
> re < RETURN >
4. After the beeper sounds, press < RETURN > and type the following:
> ct < RETURN >

Self Test Diagnostic Error Messages
If an error occurs, the Self lest diagnostics use the LEDs and the display screen to dis
-
play a message or code that calls out the failing FRU.
If the system is in NORMAL mode and an error occurs, you receive a prompt asking if
you wish to continue the tests and try to boot the operating system. The LEDs and the
display screen show the failing FRU and system status.
If the system is in SERVICE mode and an error occurs, the tests halt, with the LEDs
and the display screen showing the failing FRU and system status.
Figure 4-11 shows the LEDs on the front panel that call out the failing FRU during the
CPU/CPU board/Memory testing. The Power LED is always on when the system is
powered on. The SERVICE mode LED is on only when SERVICE mode is enabled.
