Return When entered at a prompt with no preceding input, accepts the
default value (if applicable) and moves to the next prompt.
Ctrl+D (end-of-file) When entered at a prompt with no preceding input, terminates
the command without changing the password. This is valid on
most computers; however, your settings could be different.
user Specify the name of the user, in quotation marks, for which you want to
modify the password. This operand is optional. Valid values are root,
factory, admin, or user.
You can only specify this operand when you are logged in as root,
factory, or admin. If you try to change the password of a user level
higher in the hierarchy (for example, you are admin and attempting to
change the root password), you are prompted to enter the current
password of that level. If you try to change the password of a user level
lower in the hierarchy, you are not prompted to enter the current
password.

user is not a valid user name. You have not specified a user name that is a
valid, recognized user name on the system.
Permission denied. You do not have permission to change the login
name or password specified.
Incorrect password. You have not entered the correct password when
prompted for the old password.
Password unchanged. You have entered the carriage return special input
case, choosing not to change the password.
Passwords do not match. You have not correctly verified the new password.
