infrared (Ir) printing—
Windows
You can install an infrared application
either during installation of the printer
software or at a later time.
Available applications are:
• PrintConnect Suite
•IrPrint
PrintConnect Suite (laptops)
The PrintConnect Suite configures a
notebook or laptop computer for
infrared printing when the PrintConnect
Suite detects an infrared-enabled printer.
When PrintConnect detects the printer, it
changes the computer’s settings to the
infrared-enabled printer driver and
infrared port settings.
IrPrint (Palm OS)
IrPrint provides printing capability, in
addition to the standard beam
commands, for Palm applications. It
allows you to print a weekly view of the
calendar or Date Book applications.
IrPrint also enhances the formatting of
printed materials.

• PrintConnect Suite: Windows 98,
2000, or Me
• IrPrint: Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0,
2000, or Me are required to install
the application on a Palm device
running the Palm OS 3.0, 3.1, or 3.3.
installing infrared applications during
printer software installation
To use IrPrint, you must download the
application files to your computer in
order to install the application on your
mobile device.
The IrPrint documentation contains
installation instructions. See “viewing
installation and printing instructions for
an infrared application” on page 8.
1. Follow the steps in the quick start
poster to install the printer software.
2. When the hp printer assistant screen
appears, click software and printing
ideas.
3. Click infrared printing
.
4. When you have finished installing the
infrared applications, click Exit to
close the hp printer assistant.
5. Restart the computer.
