LED indications
The LED lights on the top of the fax accessory may help you
troubleshoot hardware problems. The following table describes some of
the LED indications.
Faxes you send are not
arriving at the receiving
fax machine.
The receiving fax machine
might be off or might have an
error condition, such as being
out of paper.
Call the recipient to make sure the
fax machine is on and ready to
receive faxes.
A fax might be in memory
because it is waiting to redial
a busy number, or there are
other jobs ahead of it waiting
to be sent.
If a fax job is in memory for either
of these reasons, an entry for the
job appears in the fax log. Print the
fax activity log (see “To print the fax
activity log” on page 26), and check
the Status column for jobs with a
Pending designation.
Problem Cause Solution
LED indication Meaning
All LEDs are off There is no power to the fax accessory.
All LEDs turn on
momentarily
Power has been supplied to the fax accessory.
ON The fax accessory is ready to send or receive faxes.
Blinking quickly The fax accessory is sending a fax to the mfp.
ON The fax accessory is dialing out to send a fax.
Blinking quickly The fax accessory is receiving data from its modem.
