Battery Information • If batteries are already installed, make sure to power off camera before removing and inserting new batteries. • When using batteries in this product, ensure that they are inserted correctly. Photography Terms and Definitions Terms Definitions auto exposure bracketing (AEB) A simple technique professional photographers use to ensure they properly expose their pictures, especially in challenging lighting situations.
auto white balance (AWB) With auto white balance, the camera attempts to determine the color temperature of the light and automatically adjust for that color temperature. Many people just leave the camera set to auto white balance all the time. Charge Coupled Device (CCD) A type of silicon integrated circuit used to convert light into an electronic signal. compression The process of encoding information using fewer bits cf.
JPEG Joint Photographic Experts Group. An image compression method defined in ISO/IEC 10918-1. protocol Defined mechanisms for exchanging data between devices. StorageID A device-specific four byte unsigned integer (UINT32) that represents a unique storage area that may contain data objects. The most significant sixteen bits of a StorageID represents the PhysicalStorageID, while the least significant sixteen bits of a StorageID represents the LogicalStorageID.

Getting Started Attaching the Wrist Strap Follow these instructions to attach the wrist strap to your camera to better protect your new camera: 1. Insert the smaller loop of the strap in the strap eyelet. 2. Thread the larger loop of the strap though the short loop and pull tight to attach the strap to the camera. . Inserting the Batteries Follow these instructions to insert the AA batteries into the battery compartment.
4. Close the battery compartment. Inserting an SD/SDHC Memory Card Expand your camera’s storage by using SD or SDHC memory cards. 1. Open the SD card compartment at the bottom of the camera. 2. Insert the SD/SDHC card into the memory card slot with the metallic contacts facing the back side of the camera. 3. Push the SD/SDHC card into the memory slot until it clicks into place. 4. Close the SD card compartment.
1. Open the battery compartment. 2. Gently push the card until it clicks and pops out. 3. Pull out the card carefully. Camera Memory Your camera supports SD cards of up to 4GB in size. It also supports SDHC cards with a maximum capacity of 32GB. If there is a storage card inserted in the memory slot, the camera automatically saves all images, videos and audio clips in the external storage card. The Warning icon indicates the camera is using SD card. Not all cards may be compatible with your camera.

Left/Right View USB Strap ring Button ٭1: Play If the camera is turned off, press and hold to turn on camera in Playback mode. If the camera is turned on, press to toggle camera to Playback or Shooting mode. Button ٭2: FUNC/Delete In Shooting mode, press to enter FUNC menu. In Playback mode, press to delete an image, video or audio clip. Button ٭3: Navigation Control The 4-way Navigation Control and the OK button allows you to access the various menus available from the On Screen Display (OSD).
Button Usage OK 1. Confirm a selection when using the OSD menus. Flash/ Right 1. In Shooting mode, press to scroll through the flash mode options. (Auto, Anti Red-eye, Slow Sync and Off) 2. In Playback mode, press to view the next image, video or audio clip. 3. In Playback Video mode, press to fast forward video playback 4. In Menu mode, press to change submenus. Macro/ Left 1. In Shooting mode, press to switch focus mode (Macro, PF, INF). 2.
Initial Settings You will be prompted to set up the language and the date and time when the camera is turned on for the first time. Setting the Language 1. Press , , or to move through the selection. 2. Select a language, and then press OK to apply. Using Setup Menu You can access the Setup menu whether you are in Shooting or Playback mode. The Setup menu allows you to configure general camera settings. To go to Setup Menu: 1. Press MENU to launch the Shooting/Playback Menu. 2.
Setting Battery Type To ensure the camera displays the battery level correctly, be sure to set the battery type in Setup Menu to match the installed battery type: Alkaline / NiMH / Lithium / Oxyride.
Modes Your camera has two modes: Shooting mode • Set to Shooting mode to capture images and record videos and audio clips. • Shooting mode can be further set to many options such as auto, video and scene selection. See “Selecting the Shooting mode options” below. Playback mode • Set your camera to Playback mode so you can view and edit captured images as well as playback videos and audio clips. You can also attach a voice memo to any image in this mode.
Selecting the Shooting mode options 1. Set the camera to Shooting mode. 2. Press MENU to launch Shooting mode Menu. 3. Select Shooting Mode, and then press to enter submenu. 4. Select a mode. 5. Changing the LCD Monitor Display The type of information displayed on the LCD screen can be changed using the button. 307 307 8M 8M 0.0EV Note ISO AUTO OSD on Full OSD on Guide lines on OSD off • The OSD information may vary depending on the shooting mode type. • The following icons, if enabled, are still displayed on the LCD even when OSD off or Guide lines on: AEB, Face tracking, AF lamp, Self-Timer/Burst, and Macro. • Use the “Guide lines” to properly set image for capture.

Using Shooting Functions Shooting Image Taking Photos 307 1. Turn on the camera by pressing the Power button. By doing this, your camera is also set to shooting mode. 2. Frame the shot using the focus bracket on the LCD monitor. See Image 1. 3. Press the shutter button half-way down. The camera automatically adjusts the focus and exposure. When the camera is ready to take the photo, the frame bracket turns green, the shutter speed and aperture value are displayed See Image 2. 4.
307 To activate Stabilizer 8M • Press the Stabilizer button on top of your camera to enable/disable stabilizer. Stabilizer on If Stabilizer is enabled, the stabilizer icon is displayed on the LCD monitor and the ISO setting is automatically set to Auto. Setting the Zoom Control Your camera features up to 3x optical zoom and up to 5x of digital zoom. Optical zoom is achieved by mechanically adjusting the lens. While digital zoom is activated through the menu settings. To adjusts the optical zoom: 1.

Using Flash When taking pictures in difficult lighting conditions, use the Flash button to get correct exposure. This function cannot be activated in recording video or continuous shooting.
Auto. The flash fires automatically whenever extra lighting is needed. Auto flash is enabled. Red-eye reduction. The flash fires twice to reduce the red-eye effect. 307 8M Forced on. The flash fires whenever you press the shutter button regardless of lighting conditions. Slow sync. The flash fires with a slow shutter speed. Forced off. The flash is turned off. Note Flash function is only available in shooting still images but not available in Burst and AEB modes.
Your camera supports the four focus modes: Normal. With normal focus, the focus range starts from .8 meters (~ 2 ½ feet). When the camera is set to normal mode, there is no icon displayed on the screen. 307 8M Macro. This mode is designed for close-up photography. If Macro is enabled, you can capture the detail and sharpness of a very close image by fixed focus. Pan Focus. The camera focuses on every object. Infinity. The camera focuses on distant objects.
Using the Function Menu The hot key of “heart” ( FUNC button) is used for a quick setup of the latest six shooting modes (You may choose Special Scene, Video, Voice REC in Shooting Mode Menu) and to adjust capturing settings in Shooting Mode. • Press the FUNC of your camera to launch My Mode Menu. • Press the FUNC again to close the menu. 8M • The Menu options bar displays the six latest used shooting modes.
Resolution The Resolution setting is used to set the resolution before you capture the image. The higher the resolution, the more memory space is required. 12M 0 EV AWB Note ISO AUTO The maximum resolution option for CB350 is 12M. A2 Size 12M 3:2 The maximum resolution option for CA350 is 10M. 8M 5M 3M 16:9 N Quality The quality setting lets you adjust the quality level of your photos before you capture them.
White Balance 8M The White Balance setting allows you to adjust the image color temperature according to the ambient light condition when recording the still images and video. 0 EV AWB ISO AUTO N Icon Auto AWB Item Description Auto The camera automatically adjusts the white balance. Sun Ideally used for bright sunny conditions. Cloudy Ideally used for cloudy conditions. Tungsten Ideally used for indoor photos with tungsten or halogen lighting without a flash.
ISO The ISO function lets you adjust the ISO sensitivity in recording still images depending on the lightning levels of your surroundings. 8M 0EV AWB • Use a higher ISO setting in dim conditions and a lower ISO setting in brighter conditions. • Available settings are: Auto, 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600,3200 (3M, 16:9<2M>, VGA) Note ISO AUTO N Auto ISO ISO ISO ISO ISO ISO AUTO 50 100 200 400 800 If the Stabilizer is enabled, ISO is automatically set to Auto and cannot be adjusted.
Color Mode 8M The Color Mode function lets you record still images or video and apply different colors or tones for a more artistic effect Tinting an images color can make them appear more vivid. • As you move through the selection, the preview on the LCD monitor changes synchronously. V Vivid The camera captures the image with more contrast and saturation emphasizing on the bold colors.
Shooting Menu If you are in shooting mode, you can access the Shooting menu simply by pressing the MENU button on your camera. When the menu is displayed, use the 4-way navigation control and the OK button to move through menu selections and apply your desired settings. To close the menu anytime, press the menu button again. The Shooting menu allows you to change modes, and setup other capture settings. 1. Press MENU to launch the Shooting Menu. or 2. Use the menu selections.

Program The camera automatically adjusts suitable shooting settings like shutter speed and aperture values. Aperture Priority This feature lets users to adjust the aperture value and the camera automatically selects the shutter speed to match the brightness.
Icon Item Description Sunset This feature enhances the red hue for recording sunset images. Shaded gray This feature is used to capture the image of a backlight object by changing the metering. Kids This feature is used to capture still images of children. Night Scene This feature is used to capture scenery in low light conditions. Fireworks This feature slows shutter speed to capture fireworks explosions. Snow This feature is used for beach and snow scenes.
Icon Item Description Soft Flowing Water This feature enhances smooth effects like water or silk. Food This feature is used to capture food images. The increased saturation in this mode makes the captured image more enticing. Building This feature enhances the edges of captured images. Text This feature enhances the black and white contrast normally used when capturing text images. Auction Pictures taken in Auction mode are automatically saved under a specific folder named “_AUCT”.
- Using Smile Capture Mode The Smile Capture mode uses smile tracking to automatically capture images. This feature is most useful in capturing different angles and smiles of moving people. When capturing an image with more than one person, the camera detects the smile of the closest person on the center of the screen. The camera displays a white frame when a face is detected. To activate Smile Capture 1. Select from the Scene Mode submenu. 307 2. Focus the camera on the subject to capture. 8M 3.
Intelligent scene icon. After the camera detects the shooting conditions, this icon changes to show the detected scene mode. 307 8M Face tracking is automatically enabled. The camera displays a solid white frame when a face is detected. To activate Intelligent Scene 1. Select from the Scene Mode submenu. 2. Focus the camera on the subject to capture. 307 8M 3. The camera detects the shooting conditions and switches to an appropriate scene mode. 4.
The table below shows the modes supported by Intelligent scene: Icon Intelligent Scene Modes Description Portrait This mode is set when a face is detected. This mode is set when: Landscape • There is no face detected. • The focus distance is more than 1.5 meters. • The EV setting is greater than 11 or 10.5. Sunset This mode is automatically set when sunset lighting is detected. This mode is set when: Macro • There is no face detected • The focus distance is within the macro range.
- Using Blink Detection Mode The Blink Detection mode tracks faces and determines captured image that contain subjects with closed eyes. After shooting, when the camera detects that the subject blinked an eye, a menu selection appears to ask the user whether to save the image or not. This feature saves time in managing photos to be stored or deleted from the memory. 1. Select from the Scene Mode submenu. 307 8M Detected faces are framed. Face tracking is automatically enabled. 2.

- Using Manual Exposure Mode With Manual Exposure mode, users can manually adjust the shutter speed and the aperture value. To activate Manual Exposure 1. Select from the Scene Mode submenu. 2. Setting the Self-Timer/Burst Your camera features a Self-Timer and Burst which can be set in the Self-Timer/Burst function in the Shooting Menu. The Self-Timer allows you to take photos after a pre-defined delay. While burst lets you take consecutive shots. This function is only available in recording still images. The Self-Timer/Burst setting is automatically set to off when you turn off the camera. Shooting Mode Self-Timer/Burst AEB AF Area AF Lamp Sharpness Icon Shooting Mode 10 10 secs.
Setting the AEB AEB stands for Automatic Exposure Bracketing. This feature captures the same image with 3 different exposure settings. • The settings are recorded in the following order: standard exposure, under exposure, and over exposure. • Available settings are: [On] and [Off]. Shooting Mode Self-Timer/Burst AEB ON On AF Area OFF Off AF Lamp Sharpness OFF OFF Setting the AF Area AF stands for Automatic Focus. This feature determines the area on which the camera focuses.
The table below shows the available AF area settings. Icon Item Description Multi The camera automatically selects focus area within the wide frame. Spot The focus area is fixed on the center spot. Setting the AF Lamp The AF Lamp function allows the camera to better focus; even in low light conditions. If AF Lamp is set to Auto, the AF lamp located in the front of the camera, emits an red light by pressing the shutter button half-way down allowing the camera to focus easily.

Setting Saturation The Saturation function lets you adjust the color saturation in your photos. Use a higher saturation setting for rich colors and a lower saturation setting for more muted tones. Setting Contrast This function allows you to adjust the contrast of your photos. Saturation Contrast High Digital Zoom Medium Date & Time Imprint Low Instant Review OFF OFF Setting the Digital Zoom This feature controls the digital zoom mode of your camera. Your camera enlarges an image using the optical zoom first. When the zoom scale exceeds 3x, the camera uses digital zoom.
The table below shows the available Digital Zoom settings. Icon Note Item Description Intelligent Zoom Enlarges the image digitally with almost no distortion. This feature is available for still images only Standard Zoom Enlarges all image sizes up to a maximum of 5x, but the image quality deteriorates. Off Uses the optical zoom only. • Digital Zoom is not available in Smile Capture, Video, and Voice Recording modes.

Shooting Mode Self-Timer/Burst AEB AF Area AF Lamp Sharpness Note OFF OFF OFF 0:00:16 • When the maximum capacity for a single video has been reached, simple press the shutter button again to continue recording. • The camera will automatically stop recording when the memory capacity is full. • Digital zoom is not available in video recording. • Sound cannot be recorded while pressing the control. • Auto Power Off is not available in video recording or pause recording.
Image Quality Matrix The higher the image quality, the higher the amount of the data used per second(average bit rate), the smoother the playback video. Video Quality Average Bit Rate 720 x 400 4.8Mbps 640 x 480 4.8Mbps 320 x 240 4Mbps YouTube Mode The YouTube Mode allows you to record videos with predefined video settings for easy upload to the YouTube website. YouTube supports two file upload standards: • Single File Uploaded. The maximum videos file size is up to 100 MB. • YouTube Uploaded.
Recording Voices 1. From the Shooting mode menu, select Voice. The Voice Recording screen layout is displayed on the LCD monitor. 2. Press the Shutter button to start recording. 3. Press the Shutter button again to stop recording. 0:00:16 Note Voice recording will automatically stop when the maximum memory capacity is full.
Using the Viewing Functions View images, videos and audio clips through your camera’s Playback mode. Viewing in Single Navigation The single navigation mode displays the image one by one on the LCD monitor. To view images/videos/audio clips, follow the steps below. Scroll bar. If scroll bars appear, it indicates that the screen can be scrolled. OK Display Thumbnail view Thumbnail icons When you view the thumbnails, some images may contain icons. These icons indicate the type of file or recording. Icon Item Description Voice Memo Indicates that a voice memo is attached to the image. Video Indicates a recorded video. The image displayed is the first frame of the video clip. Locked File Indicates that the image has been locked.
Zooming images The zoom view function works with still images only. • In medium view, press the T button repeatedly until the desired zoom view. • The 4 arrows on the LCD monitor indicate that the image is zoomed in. • Press the Play button to close zoom view. x2.0 Playing Videos 1. Set the camera to Playback mode. 2. Use the navigation controls to scroll through the saved images.
3. During playback, use the to control volume. Press the T button to increase volume. Press the W button to decrease volume. 4. Press the key to pause playback. Press the key again to resume. When paused, the play info will remain on screen except WT Note . • The play info, except the WT icon, will be displayed when the video is paused, during REW/FF or frame by frame modes • Volume cannot be adjusted when paused or during REW/FF modes. Playing Voice Recording 1. Set the camera to Playback mode. 2. Use the navigation controls to scroll through the saved images. When viewing a voice recording file, the LCD monitor displays the screen layout of Audio clips. See picture on the right. 3. Press the key to play the voice recording. to control 4. During playback, use the volume. The volume icon appears on the screen. Press the T button to increase volume. Press the W button to decrease volume. 5.

When the desired image/video/audio clip is displayed on the LCD monitor, press the Delete button. 5. A confirmation selection appears on screen. 6. Select Delete. 7. Press the OK button to delete. Delete Cancel Note Locked files cannot be deleted at any time. When you try to delete a locked file, the camera displays “File Locked” message on the LCD monitor.
View Slideshow The view slideshow function allows you to view all stored photos/videos in still image format in a continuous sequence. To view slideshow: 1. From the Playback menu, select View Slideshow. The Slideshow menu appears. 2. Set the slideshow settings. 3. Select Start, and then press the OK button to start the slideshow. 4. During slideshow, press the OK button to pause slideshow. 5. Use the or key t to move through the options. Select whether to Continue or Exit the slideshow.
To delete a photo/video/audio clip: 1. From the Playback menu, select Delete. 2. The Delete submenu is displayed on the LCD monitor. Select available settings: • This image. Select one file to delete. • Voice Memo Only. Delete only the attached voice memo, the image is retained in the memory. • Multi-Images. Select multiple files to delete at the same time. Delete Cancel • All. Delete all files.
Remove Red Eyes The function is used to reduce red eye in captured images. This function is only available for still images.
