Detailed Microsoft Windows installation instructions

The following section shows the dialog box options that appear during the printing-system software

installation on Windows Vista and Windows XP operating systems.

NOTE: HP recommends installing the software before connecting the product to the computer

(software-first installation). These instructions are for a software-first installation.

Use these instructions the first time the product software is installed.

NOTE: Do not connect the USB or network cable until prompted to do so by the installer program.

1. Close out of all other programs.

2. Insert the printing-system software CD into the CD-ROM drive.

NOTE: If the CD does not start automatically, click the Start button, click the Run menu item,

navigate to the CD-ROM root directory, and then double-click the Autorun.exe file.

3. The Animated Getting Started Guide starts. Perform one of the following options.

Click the Begin Setup button to start the Animated Getting Started Guide. Follow the guide

instructions to unpack and set up a new product. For detailed information about the guide,

Click the Install Product Software, to continue to the CD browser Welcome window. For

detailed information about installing the software, see .

Animated Getting Started Guide (GSG)

The printing-system software CD includes an Animated Getting Started Guide. This guide includes

instructions for preparing the product for use and the initial software install.

Setup and installation instructions

This section includes instructions for product setup and steps towards installing the driver software from

the CD.
