Caveats
Condition: When a user tries to run the tape traffic with TIE through IOA the port software fails.
Workaround: This issue is resolved.
CSCud41024
Symptom: A module gets reloaded because of a virtual service domain (VSD) process crash.
Condition: The VSD core file is recorded in the output of the show core command.
Workaround: This issue is resolved.
CSCud62557
Symptom: A Cisco MDS 9000 16-Port Storage Services Node (SSN-16) periodically goes into a
state where it is constantly logs the following messages:
2012 Dec 10 14:04:47 Be800rc01f01-new %MODULE-4-MOD_WARNING: Module 6 (serial:
JAE1223KQKC) reported warning on ports 6/61-6/61 (Fib
re Channel Virtual) due to Skyline ni module experienced an error in device 60 (device
error 0xc3c0020e)
Workaround: This issue is resolved.
CSCud90995
Symptom: After an ISSU from Cisco MDS NX-OS Release 5.2(1), 5.2(2), 5.2(2a) or 5.2(2d) to
5.2(6), 5.2(6a), 5.2(6b), or 5.2(8), followed by a system switchover, these two problems can occur:
The switchport fill-pattern cannot be changed and the following error is displayed:
switch(config-if)# switchport fill-pattern IDLE speed 8000
fc13/1: (error) requested config change not allowed
switch(config-if)#
Fibre Channel (FC) link does not come up in 8-Gbps switching module after a port-flap.
Condition: This occurs when all of the following conditions are met:
The FC interface belongs to a Generation 4 switching module. For example, DS-X9248-256K9
or DS-X9232-256K9.
The Cisco MDS 9500 switch is upgraded from Cisco MDS NX-OS Release 5.2(1), 5.2(2),
5.2(2a) or 5.2(2d) to 5.2(6), 5.2(6a), 5.2(6b) or 5.2(8) with an ISSU using the install all
command or from DCNM-SAN equivalent.
The system switchover command is used after the ISSU was successful.
A port-flap either shut or no shut or new host brings up the link in that switching module.
Workaround: Reload the Cisco MDS Generation 4 switching module or downgrade back to Cisco
MDS NX-OS Release 5.2(1) and then re-upgrade to NX-OS 5.2(6), 5.2(6a), 5.2(6b) or 5.2(8).
However, after the upgrade, if you use the system switchover command, this issue will recur. If the
situation recurs, perform one of the following:
Reload the individual MDS Generation 4 switching module to prevent this issue from recurring.
Manually set the port speed to 4Gbps by using the following command:
switch(config-if)# switchport speed 4000
Upgrade to the Cisco MDS NX-OS Release 5.2(8a).

Symptom: The MSM-18/4 module reloads during the In Service Software Upgrade (ISSU) and In
Service Software Downgrade (ISSU) process that results in the upgrade/downgrade failure
