Chapter 2 System Messages and Recovery Procedures for the Cisco MDS 9000 Family
MCAST Messages
This section contains the multicast (MCAST) messages.
MCAST-2
Error Message MCAST-2-SHUTDOWN: Process shutting down: [chars].
Explanation The multicast process is shutting down.
Recommended Action The action depends on the situation. The multicast process can shut down
gracefully because of a system restart (in which case no action needs to take place) or because of a
failure. The message associated with the syslog should be self explanatory. If the process can restart
properly, there is no immediate harm for the system stability and the suggested action is to report
the syslog event together with an explanation of the operations most recently performed on the
system. If the component cannot restart properly, contact your support representative. If you
purchased Cisco support through a Cisco reseller, contact the reseller directly. If you purchased
support directly from Cisco Systems, contact Cisco Technical Support.
Introduced Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.2(2a).
MCAST-4
Error Message MCAST-4-ERROR: [chars].
Explanation
Multicast encountered a generic error.
Recommended Action No action is required.
Introduced Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.2(2a).
MCAST-5
Error Message MCAST-5-BAD_MSG: Received bad message: [chars].
Explanation Multicast has received a malformed or unrecognizable message.
Recommended Action No action is required.
Introduced Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.2(2a).
Error Message MCAST-5-START: Process has been started.
Explanation
