Chapter 2 System Messages and Recovery Procedures for the Cisco MDS 9000 Family
Error Message SVC-4-NODE_WARNING_MSG: (SVC [dec]/[dec] SS_EID_FC_ER_PREPARE_FAILED
) FlashCopy prepare failed due to cache flush failure [chars].
Explanation A flash copy prepare task failed because a cache flush has failed.
Recommended Action 1. Correct higher priority errors, and then retry the prepare tasks. 2. Mark the
error you have just repaired as fixed.
Introduced Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.3(1).
Error Message SVC-4-NODE_WARNING_MSG: (SVC [dec]/[dec] SS_EID_FC_ER_STOP_COMPLETED
) Flash Copy Stopped [chars].
Explanation The flash copy mapping or consistency group has entered the stopped state as a result
of a user request to stop.

Error Message SVC-4-NODE_WARNING_MSG: (SVC [dec]/[dec]
SS_EID_IC_ER_DIRECTORY_LIST_FAILED ) Failed to obtain directory listing from
remote node [chars].
Explanation
An attempt to clean or retrieve files from the dumps directory has failed because of a
failure to get a listing of the directory from the remote node.
Recommended Action Determine if the remote node is still online. If not, determine the problem on
the remote node. If it is online, retry the command. Contact your customer support representative
for assistance if it still fails. Cisco CLI commands or Fabric Manager procedures may be used to
access the node directly as an alternative.
Introduced Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.3(1).
Error Message SVC-4-NODE_WARNING_MSG: (SVC [dec]/[dec]
SS_EID_IC_ER_FEATURISATION_VIOLATION ) Featurisation violation [chars].
Explanation
The user has allocated more virtualized storage than licensed for or established a flash
copy mapping or remote copy relationship when these have not been licensed.
Recommended Action Look in the featurisation log for log “error” entries to determine the type of
violation. Then you can either reduce virtualized storage, or remove the flash copy mapping or
remote copy relationship. This will put you in compliance with your license. You can also update
the license information if that is incorrect or arrange with your customer support representative to
purchase a license for the desired features.
Introduced Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.3(1).
