Chapter 2 System Messages and Recovery Procedures for the Cisco MDS 9000 Family
Error Message SYSMGR-2-CFGWRITE_ABORTED_DIR: Unable to open the configuration
directory. Aborting configuration copy.
Explanation The destination location for the startup configuration could not be found.
Recommended Action If the problem persists, issue the init system CLI command from the
switch(boot)# prompt to initialize the configuration partition. Note: This is a disruptive command.
This command will initialize the switch, reset the entire internal disk, and reformat the bootflash:
partition.
Introduced Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 1.2(2a).
Error Message SYSMGR-2-CFGWRITE_ABORTED_INIT: Unable to initialize the
configuration directory (error-id [hex]). Aborting configuration copy.
Explanation An attempt to copy the running configuration to startup configuration has failed
because the old data could not be removed.
Recommended Action If the problem persists, issue the init system CLI command from the
switch(boot)# prompt to initialize the configuration partition. Note: This is a disruptive command.
This command will initialize the switch, reset the entire internal disk, and reformat the bootflash:
partition.

configuration (error-id [hex]). Aborting configuration copy.

because the new startup configuration could not be stamped.
Recommended Action If the problem persists, issue the init system CLI command from the
switch(boot)# prompt to initialize the configuration partition. Note: This is a disruptive command.
This command will initialize the switch, reset the entire internal disk, and reformat the bootflash:
partition.

(error-id [hex]). Aborting configuration copy.
Explanation
An attempt to copy the running configuration to startup configuration has failed
because the system could not lock the required configuration items.
