Chapter 2 System Messages and Recovery Procedures for the Cisco MDS 9000 Family
Error Message VRRP_ENG-2-INVALID_CONFIG: Cannot start the VR [dec] on the interface
[chars]. Invalid IP configuration. Reason: [chars].
Explanation The specified virtual router on the interface is enabled, but the IP configuration is not
valid because of the error shown in the error message.
Recommended Action Enter the show interface CLI command or use a similar Fabric
Manager/Device Manager procedure to ensure the IP address of the interface is configured and is in
the same subnet of the virtual router address.

Error Message VRRP_ENG-2-VR_FAILURE: Error in VR[chars] [dec] interface [chars].
Going to init state.
Explanation The virtual router on the interface is in the initialization state because of an internal
error.
Recommended Action Enter the show interface CLI command or use a similar Fabric
Manager/Device Manager procedure to check the status of the interface. Check the configuration,
status, and statistics of the specified virtual router and enable VRRP debug for further information.
Enter shutdown and no shutdown on the specified virtual router.

Error Message VRRP_ENG-3-INIT_FAILED: Initialization failed. Component [chars].
Explanation The service failed to start. The failure occurred while initializing the component shown
in the error message.
Recommended Action Enter the show process CLI command or use a similar Fabric Manager/Device
Manager procedure to check the status of the other processes and debug the specified component.

Explanation
