Installation Instructions
Refer to the HP ProLiant Cluster HA/F500 for MA8000
Enhanced DT Supplement Guide included in this kit for
detailed installation instructions.
Installing the Server
1. Install the server options (but not the host bus adapters) in
the servers.
2. Install disk drives in all storage subsystems.
3. Install the network cards in each server and connect them
to the external fiber/ATM link.
This procedure requires at least two NIC interfaces per
server, one for cluster communication and one for client
access.
The NIC pairs for cluster communication must be on the
same IP subnet.
The NIC pairs for client access must be on the same IP
subnet.
The cluster communication subnet must be different than
the client access subnet.
4. Configure the switches with IP addresses.
5. Set up the ProLiant servers, using one of the following
operating systems (do not install Microsoft Cluster Service):
Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server with
Microsoft Service Pack 2 or 3
Microsoft Windows NT® Server 4.0, Enterprise Edition
with Microsoft Service Pack 6a
Configuring the Data Replication
Manager
1. Configure the controllers at the target (remote) site.
2. Configure the storage at the target site.
a. Configure the devices and the storage sets.
b. Configure the LUNs.
Create at least one LUN per storage subsystem that is
not part of a remote copy set.
c. Disable access to all units.
3. Connect the fiber optic cables between the HSG80
controllers and the switches.
4. Connect the target site to the external fiber/ATM link.
5. Configure the host server at the target site.
a. Install the host bus adapters and drivers.
b. Install the HP StorageWorks Fibre Channel software.
c. Install HP StorageWorks Secure Path software.
d. Install HP StorageWorks Command Console (SWCC)
(optional).
e. Connect the fiber optic cables between the host server
and the switches.
f. Rename the host server connections on the controllers.
6. Configure the controllers at the initiator (local) site.
7. Configure the storage at the initiator site.
a. Configure the devices and the storage sets.
b. Configure the LUNs.
Create at least one LUN per storage subsystem that is
not part of a remote copy set.
8. Connect the fiber optic cables between the HSG80
controllers and switches.
9. Connect the initiator site to the external fiber/ATM link.
10. Create controller connections at both sites.
11. Enable controller connections on the target and initiator
units and enable access to the target units.
12. Create remote copy sets.
13. Create log unit and association sets (optional).
14. Configure the host server at the initiator site.
a. Install the host bus adapters and drivers.
b. Install the HP StorageWorks Fibre Channel software.
c. Install HP StorageWorks Secure Path.
d. Install SWCC (optional).
e. Connect the fiber optic cables between the host server
and the switches.
f. Rename the host server connections on the controllers.
g. Enable access to the hosts on the initiator controllers.
15. Verify proper system operation.
16. Save the configuration to disk.
Installing Microsoft Cluster Service
(MSCS)
1. Install MSCS on the first node and create a cluster.
2. Install MSCS on the remaining nodes, and join the cluster.
3. Install applications.
