System Setup and Configuration

If you are using the Linux operating system, refer to www.compaq.com for setup and

configuration instructions.

For other operating systems, verify that the following items are available before you

begin configuring the cluster:

• Compaq SmartStart for Servers CD 5.30 or later, or Compaq Smart Array Cluster

Storage Support Software CD 5.30A or later

• Compaq Management CD

• Software and documentation for one of the following operating systems:

— Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 Enterprise Edition, with Service Pack 6a

and Service Pack 3

— Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server, with Service Pack 2 or later

— Novell NetWare 5.1, with NetWare Cluster Services (NWCS) for

NetWare 5.1 and Novell Consolidated Support Pack (CSP) 6 or later

— Novell NetWare 6.0, with Novell Cluster Services (NCS) for NetWare 6.0

Also:

• Be sure that you have sufficient software rights to install the operating system

and software applications on each server node.

• Verify that all hardware is installed before installing the software.
