Remotely Managing a Cluster
Compaq Insight Manager 7 and Microsoft Cluster Administrator can be run from
network client machines. Each program allows monitoring of multiple clusters from a
single remote client. Refer to the software documentation to determine how to set up
and configure each of these programs to run remotely.
Cluster Events
Cluster events are logged in the Windows System Log. Use the Windows Event
Viewer to view the data in the log.
Compaq Insight Manager 7
Compaq Insight Manager 7 provides comprehensive system management for
Compaq servers, workstations, and clients. It proactively monitors and manages
system resources by providing IT managers with time-critical management
information. It provides extensive fault, configuration, and performance
management. It allows you to view two server nodes as a single cluster entity.
The cluster also supports Compaq Insight Manager and Compaq Insight Manager
XE.
Clustering Software
Compaq Intelligent Cluster Administrator, Microsoft Cluster Administrator, and
Novell ConsoleOne are clustering tools for the management of the cluster. The
following sections summarize the features and functionality of each of these tools.
Compaq Intelligent Cluster Administrator
Compaq Intelligent Cluster Administrator is a browser-based administration and
configuration management tool for remote management of Compaq ProLiant
TM
clusters. Intelligent Cluster Administrator allows you to:
