Control access to network resources
Access remote server consoles
ConsoleOne also allows you to manage NetWare clusters by:
Creating cluster volumes, resources, and templates
Configuring load and unload scripts
Setting failover and failback modes
Bringing cluster resources offline and online
Assigning nodes to resources
Migrating resources between servers
Identifying cluster and resource states
Refer to the ConsoleOne documentation for a thorough description of ConsoleOne
features and specifics on how to use the utility.
Backing Up Your Cluster
As data becomes an increasingly valued company asset, it needs to be backed up on a
regular basis. The process of backing up data guarantees that a companys assets are
secure and readily available even when a disaster strikes. The cluster itself provides a
high degree of application availability but does not prevent a user from deleting or
corrupting a file or set of files. Backing up data on a cluster increases the overall
level of data availability.
There are several methods for backing up clustered systems. Compaq recommends
that you use one of the following methods:
Install one universal hot-plug internal tape drive in each server. These drives are
available in two formats: DAT 20/50 GB or AIT 35/50 GB.
Use an external tape library. These libraries are available in DLT, AIT, or the
new SDLT format. They can be directly attached to the cluster.
Use a separate backup server that operates over the standard public client local
area network (LAN).
