Capable of providing out-of-the-box management of the server through
the installation of the Compaq Survey Utility and Compaq Management
Agents for Servers. The management agents monitor the performance
and configuration of the server along with the performance of the
operating system. The management agents help prevent problems before
users are affected by issuing alerts when faults occur. The Compaq
Management Agents are installed during the setup process. The Compaq
Survey Utility is available as an icon on the desktop for installation after
the initial Windows 2000 setup completes.
NOTE: Windows 2000 requires TCP/IP.
■ Preconfigured with the New Technology File System (NTFS). Many
new features in Windows 2000 require NTFS. One of the features
includes promoting the server to a domain controller in order to use
Microsoft Active Directory. NTFS also offers greater security. Review
the Microsoft documentation for Windows 2000 to properly configure
the server and to understand how to use NTFS with Windows 2000
while concurrently using previous versions of Windows NT in a

NOTE: Complete the operating system installation before installing any additional
hardware options.
If you are prompted for an install path for original files to be copied during the installation
of additional hardware or software components, direct the path to C:\I386. If prompted for
Compaq driver files, direct the path to C:\CPQDRVRS. Driver files are located in
subdirectories of this path. Click Browse to view the directory.
