Configuring the Hard Drives
The primary logical drive, which contains the operating system, is the only
drive on the server that has been configured. Additional space that is
unpartitioned is also located on the primary drive. Unpartitioned space and any
additional hard drives on the server must be partitioned and formatted before
they will be available for use.
Run Disk Administrator to configure any remaining unpartitioned hard drives.
1. Click Start to display the Start menu.
2. Select Programs, then Administrative Tools.
3. Click Disk Administrator to partition and format the hard drives.
Refer to the operating system documentation for more information on
configuring the hard drives.
Installing the Token Ring Network Interface
Card
If you installed a token ring NIC and want to set it as the first node in a loop,
you must set the token ring speed. Instructions are provided for the following
token rings:
■ Compaq NC4621 Token Ring NIC PCI 4/16 WOL Controller
■ IBM 16/4 Token Ring PCI Special with WOL Controller

NIC PCI 4/16 WOL Controller
You can set the ring speed for the Compaq NC4621 Token Ring NIC PCI 4/16
WOL controller either during or after the operating system installation.
To set the ring speed during the operating system installation:
1. Select This Computer Will Participate on a Network when prompted.
2. Select Wired to Network when prompted.
3. Select either Force 4 MBit/s or Force 16 MBit/s as the ring speed when
the pop-up dialog box for the Compaq Token Ring Adapter displays.
