Networking Information
Protocols
The TCP/IP and SNMP services are automatically installed to enable the
Web-enabled Compaq Management Agents for Servers to communicate with
Compaq Insight Manager and Compaq Insight Manager XE. To disable the
TCP/IP protocol service or the SNMP service, refer to the Windows NT
documentation.
Setting Up Remote Access Service
To use the RAS service with an installed modem, use the following
instructions to configure the server:
1. Click Start to display the Start menu.
2. Click Settings, then select Control Panel.
3. Double-click the Network icon.
4. Select the Services tab, and click Add.
5. Select Remote Access Service and click OK.
6. Click Continue at the Windows NT Setup screen to accept the default
path of C:\i386.
7. Select the previously installed modem at the Add RAS Device window,
then click OK.
8. Configure the networking protocols and port usage, then click Continue.
9. Reboot the server when prompted to activate your new configuration.
Using Compaq Management Agents
To install the preloaded Compaq Management Agents during the
post-installation interview process, double-click the icon on the desktop and
follow the on-screen instructions. Compaq recommends that the Agents be
installed because they form the foundation for managing the server and
operating system.
