Installing Server Node 2
Complete the installation of the factory-installed operating system and
configure server node 2 by following the procedures in the sections “Installing
Server Node 1” and “Post-Installation Tasks,” substituting server node 2 for
server node 1 in all procedures.
NOTE: The shared storage will already be powered up when installing server node 2.
Disregard this instruction in Step 1 of “Installing Server Node 1.”
NOTE: If server node 2 is a ProLiant CL380 with an Integrated Smart Array Controller, the
shared storage for SCSI node 2 must be isolated before installing the operating system.
This prevents server node 2 from accessing the shared storage during the operating
system installation. To isolate the shared storage from node 2, press the SCSI node 2
button located on the back of the server. An amber light will come on to indicate the
shared storage has been isolated. Refer to the Compaq ProLiant CL380 User Guide for
additional information.
Configuring Cluster Services on
Server Node 2
NOTE: If server node 2 is a ProLiant CL380 with the Integrated Smart Array Controller
and the shared storage was isolated in earlier steps, the shared storage will need to be
reactivated after the operating system software installation has been completed. This
allows server node 2 to see the already configured shared storage. To reactivate the
shared storage, press the button for SCSI node 2 located on the back of the server. The
amber light will turn off. When the shared storage is reactivated, the only light on the
back of the server will be an intermittent green light indicating activity on the SCSI bus.
Refer to the Compaq ProLiant CL380 User Guide for additional information.
1. Log on to Windows NT.
NOTE: It is only necessary to configure the shared drives during server node 1 setup.
When configuring server node 2, the CR3500 Configuration Utility shows the results of the
shared drives configured during server node 1 setup. The CR3500 Configuration Utility
must be running to view this information from server node 2.
