Installs the networking protocols, Transmission Control
Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and Simple Network Management
Protocol (SNMP) services for networking.
■ Installs Compaq Management Agents for Servers, allowing the agents to
communicate with Compaq Insight Manager™ and Compaq Insight
Manager XE.
■ Enables out-of-the-box management of the server by means of the
installation of Compaq Management Agents for Servers. The agents
monitor the server’s performance and configuration, as well as the
performance of the operating system. The agents help prevent problems
before they affect users by issuing alerts when faults occur.
NOTE: Complete the operating system installation before installing any additional
hardware options.
Gathering Information
Refer to the operating system documentation provided with the server for
details on information required during the software installation.
Also refer to the Compaq ProLiant CL380 User Guide for complete hardware
installation information.
IMPORTANT: A server type (Primary Domain Controller, Backup Domain Controller, or
Stand-Alone Server) must be selected during the software installation. Therefore, it is
critical to determine the appropriate server type before starting the installation. After the
Primary Domain Controller or Backup Domain Controller has been chosen, it cannot be
changed unless the operating system is reinstalled. To reinstall the operating system, use
the Compaq SmartStart™ for Servers package provided in the Compaq Server Setup and
Management kit that was shipped with the system.
