Installing DIMMs
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the
internal system components to cool before touching them.
CAUTION: Electrostatic discharge can damage electronic components. Be sure
you are properly grounded before beginning any installation procedure. See
Appendix B, Electrostatic Discharge, for more information.
1. Remove the server node. For instructions, see the Accessing a Server
Node section earlier in this chapter.
2. Align the key slot in the bottom edge of each DIMM with the tab in the
expansion slot.
NOTE: DIMMs will not seat if turned the wrong way.
3. Insert each DIMM straight down into a socket on the system board .
4. As the DIMM goes into the socket, the latches close .

5. Press down firmly on the DIMM until it snaps into place.
6. Replace the server node in the system.
