Installing the Optional Hot-Plug Drive Cage
Installing the optional 2 x 1-inch drive cage allows you use up to two
additional 1-inch hot-plug Wide Ultra2 or Ultra3 drives in your
ProLiant CL380 server. The standard Integrated Smart Array Controller in
your server supports the drive cage and additional hot-plug drives. Figure 4-66
illustrates a ProLiant CL380 with the optional drives installed, with the
corresponding SCSI IDs shown. Please refer to Appendix H, SCSI ID
Configurations for more information on SCSI IDs.
NOTE: When combining Ultra2 and Ultra3 hard drives, all of the drives are limited to
response times no faster than the maximum burst rate of up to 80 MB/s on the Ultra2
SCSI bus, or the transfer rate of the slowest device in the array.
NOTE: Refer to the previous sections on Removable media devices, in this chapter, to
assist in this process.
