Connecting Nodes to an External
KVM Switch
Internal to the ProLiant CL380 is a two-port keyboard, video and monitor
(KVM) switch. This switch is only designed to support keyboard, video, and
mouse needs of both server nodes in the system. By design, the KVM does not
support configurations that cascade or daisy chain its functions to other KVM
switches.
To connect both server nodes to an external KVM switchbox, you will need to
order KVM extension cables for each node. The available KVM extension
cables are listed in table 4-2.
Table 4-2
KVM Extension Cables
Part Number Description
110936-B21 12-foot KVM extension cable

1. Perform a system shutdown on both server nodes according to your
operating system instructions.
2. Open the front bezel doors (tower model only).
