Business Rugged Design - Technology Spotlight HP PROFESSIONAL INNOVATIONS FOR BUSINESS NOTEBOOKS
BUSINESS RUGGED
The demands of business can put you in a
wide variety of situations. Whether it’s rushing
from meeting to meeting, driving around a region,
flying between continents or a daily commute from
office to home, you need to make sure that your
most versatile business tool is always at hand.
HP is committed to delivering some of the most
durable, business rugged notebooks in the industry
with our line of EliteBook notebooks.
Developing highly rugged notebooks requires
a clear understanding of the conditions to which
a notebook can be subjected and a design that
provides real-world durability while enhancing the
overall user experience. With the amount of time you
spend on notebooks each day, it’s unacceptable to
compromise your experience for enhanced durability.
HP EliteBook models were designed with lofty goals
in mind: Develop the most durable line of business
rugged notebooks using premium materials to deliver
an experience that’s best in class.
As a pioneer in portable PCs, HP has three decades
of development experience upon which to draw when
developing the latest generation of business notebook
PCs. This has allowed us to raise the bar in terms of
design and durability.
Inspired by aerospace craftsmanship and materials,
EliteBook models feature the enhanced HP DuraCase,
which blends modern design and precision
engineering to deliver unyielding style, durability
and performance. The bottom case is formed from
cold-forged magnesium. The display enclosure is
bead-blasted aluminum with the HP DuraFinish
coating bonded to a magnesium inner structure
that has been tested under 300 pounds of pressure.
The HP DisplaySafe frame offers additional protection
for the LCD panel with a 360 degree rubber bumper.
The chemically strengthened glass touchpad not
only increases wear resistance, but also feels much
smoother to the touch. The aluminum palm rest
maintains the same high quality design aesthetic
found with the touchpad and our HP DuraKeys
are 50 times more resistant to wear than keys without
this protection. All EliteBook models undergo the
HP Total Test process, which involves over 100,000
hours of testing.
Since manufacturer testing procedures can vary,
HP has gone the extra length of subjecting
our notebooks to rigorous third-party MIL-STD
810G testing. This military specification provides
equipment manufacturers with a standard set
of procedures for durability testing. HP EliteBook
models are tested for drop, shock, vibration,
low temperatures, high temperatures, temperature
shock, altitude and dust. The drop test involves
dropping the notebook a total of 26 times from
30 inches (the approximate height of a desk),
covering each side, corner and edge. The vibration
simulates 1,000 miles of truck transportation.
