NOTE: The Onboard Administrator and NIC firmware are only supported in online
deployments.
Verifying firmware versions
To locate and verify the most current firmware versions, use the following tools:
• Insight Diagnostics Online Edition ("HP Insight Diagnostics" on page 75)

Updating firmware
Several tools are available for updating firmware. HP provides the following methods:
• HP Service Pack for ProLiant (on page 78) (preferred)
• Smart Update Firmware DVD (on page 78)
• ROMPaq utility (on page 72)
• System online ROM flash component utility (on page 79)
For manual firmware updates, download the current firmware from the HP website
(http://www.hp.com/support).
To update the firmware:
1. Check the firmware version on the device ("Verifying firmware versions" on page 82).
2. Determine the latest firmware version available.
3. If a TPM is installed and enabled on the server, disable BitLocker before updating the firmware. For
more information, see the operating system documentation.
4. Download and update the firmware to the current version supported for the hardware configuration.
5. Verify the firmware update by checking the firmware version.
6. If a TPM is installed and enabled on the server, enable BitLocker after the firmware update is complete.

HP Smart Update Manager deployment
HP SUM is included in many HP products for installing and updating firmware and software on HP ProLiant
servers. Products such as the Smart Update Firmware DVD and PSP are no longer updated and were
replaced by the SPP ("HP Service Pack for ProLiant" on page 78). To determine if your product is supported
by the SPP, see the latest server support guide on the HP website
