Speaker assembly 721537-001
NOTE: You must remove the left speaker to remove to function board cable.
Before removing the speaker assembly, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet,
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 37).
5. Remove the following components:
a. Service door (see
Service door on page 38).
b. Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 50)
c. Optical drive (
Optical drive on page 42)
d. Top cover (see
Top cover on page 54)
Remove the speaker assembly:
1. Position the top cover upside-down.
2. Remove the 2 Phillips PM2.5×6.0 shoulder screws (1) that secure the speakers to the computer.
3. Lift the side of each speaker opposite of the screw, and then pull each speaker out from under the
tab on the top cover (2).
4. Remove the speaker cables from the clips built into the top cover (3).
