Function board 721518-001
Before removing the function board, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet,
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 37).
5. Remove the following components:
a. Service door (see
Service door on page 38)
b. Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 50)
c. Optical drive (
Optical drive on page 42)
d. Top cover (see
Top cover on page 54)
Remove the function board:
1. Position the top cover upside-down.
2. Remove the 2 Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws (1) that secure the function board to the top cover.
3. Lift the cable side of the board slightly, and then pull the board toward the right (inside of cover)
until the left side of the board comes out from under the holder (2).
