Performance Tuning
You will need to connect SCSI-based Ultrium drives to a dedicated SCSI Host Bus Adaptor (HBA) or
integrated SCSI interface that is Ultra 160 or higher. Please reference the "Options" section of these
QuickSpec for all supported SCSI adapters and interfaces. SAS-based Ultrium drives must be connected
to a suitable SAS Host Bus Adapter (HBA); visit

To achieve full performance with your tape drive, do not use the native backup application within the
operating system (e.g., NT® Backup, Windows® 2000 Backup). For full details of supported backup

Retrospect, IBM Tivoli TSM, Novastor NovaBackup, and other backup applications
