● If the printer is connected to a wireless network, the wireless connection has been broken. ● The printer software was not installed correctly. ● Security software (firewalls and anti-virus) installed on your computer may be blocking communication with the printer. To solve this problem, try the following solutions: ● Make sure the printer is turned on and the On button light is on. ● Make sure the power cord and other cables are working and are firmly connected to the printer.
● Make sure that you have loaded paper that meets specifications and is not wrinkled, folded, or damaged. For more information, see Paper basics on page 8. ● Make sure that the printer is clean. For more information, see Maintain the printer on page 73. ● Make sure that the trays are loaded correctly and are not too full. For more information, see Load media on page 10. For instructions on clearing jams, as well as more information about how to avoid jams, see Jams and paperfeed issues on page 54.
Paper too short The paper loaded is shorter than the minimum requirement. Paper that meets the printer requirements must be loaded. For more information, see Paper basics on page 8 and Load media on page 10. Please Connect to HP Instant Ink The printer must be connected to HP Instant Ink, otherwise you will be unable to print soon without further warning. See the printer control panel for instructions on connecting, or visit the HP Instant Ink program website for more information.
Paper too long to auto-duplex The paper loaded is longer than supported by the printer automatic duplexing. You can manually duplex it by selecting "manual duplex" or "print odd pages" and "print even pages" in your printer software (if supported). For more information, see Paper basics on page 8 and Load media on page 10.
